Chattanooga, Tenn., Lands Nonstop US Airways Flight to Washington, D.C.

Apr. 6--Chattanooga on Monday won its bid for a nonstop flight to Washington, D.C., as US Airways Express unveiled plans to start jet service between the cities early this summer.

Chattanooga beat out Asheville, N.C, and Wilmington, N.C., for the one daily flight to Reagan National Airport, said airline spokesman Dave Castelveter. He said the flight's schedule and exact start date should be known in a few weeks.

Mayor Bob Corker said the Washington service comes on the heels of the startup of a second nonstop to New York that began Sunday.

"We're thrilled," he said.
