Qld: Candidate inspired by Hanson

BRISBANE, April 7 AAP - A pilot inspired by Pauline Hanson is One Nation's candidatefor the Maryborough by-election in Queensland.

Brad Marsh, a 40-year-old former commercial airline pilot, was today selected by OneNation to run for Maryborough, which was vacated by Independent John Kingston on healthgrounds two weeks ago.

Mr Marsh said he had only joined the party in January, but had been inspired by theparty's former leader ever since she entered the public spotlight.

"I would be looking to continue the work that Pauline started," Mr Marsh said.

"She was looking for a return to traditional Australian values such as supporting family life."

Mr Marsh said it was unlikely Ms Hanson would be campaigning in the lead-up to theApril 26 by-election as she was "fairly busy" awaiting the outcome of the NSW Upper Houseelections.

Other candidates to stand in the by-election include conservationist Dean Prately (Greens),stationmaster Peter Andrews (Nationals) and postal worker Doug Loggie (Labor).

Nominations for the seat close tomorrow.
